ROpe-T is the club's race operations app. It holds the details needed to know who is on the water and to contact them, or someone for them, in an emergency. This page explains what is stored and who can see it.

What we store about you

  • Your name, email address and mobile number.
  • If you give them: your Australian Sailing number, club member number, residential address, and an emergency contact's name and phone number.
  • Your club status (financial member, registered sailor or volunteer) and any club roles (Admin, Race Ops, Rescue).
  • The boats you crew on, and any Saturday crew changes.
  • Every sign-on and sign-off: when, which boat, who was aboard, and who recorded it. These records can't be edited or deleted, because they are the safety record for each race day.
  • For signing in: a securely hashed password (never the password itself), and the device and IP address of each active session.

Who can see it

  • Anyone, without signing in, can see the public board: boat names and whether each boat is on the water. No names of people are shown.
  • Sailors see the crew of their own boats.
  • Boat Admins see their boat's crew, and can look up other members by name and email to swap them in or invite a guest.
  • Rescue and Race Ops see who is aboard each boat on the water, with mobile and emergency contact numbers, so they can act in an emergency. Race Ops also see the sign-on history.
  • Admins see and manage all account details, including addresses.

Your details are only used to run sailing at the club. They aren't sold or shared outside the club, apart from the services that host the app and send its emails.

Keeping your details right

You can update your name, mobile, numbers, address and emergency contact on your Profile page. To change your email address or close your account, ask a club Admin. Closing an account stops it being used, but past sign-on records stay as part of the safety record.
